Climate Mitigation Strategy Approach
City Science brings a wealth of experience of helping local authorities to decarbonise their district-wide emissions, having developed decarbonisation strategies and actions plans for a range of Clients including Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, Wolverhampton and Mid Sussex Council’s.
We will work closely with key stakeholders to develop:
- An up-to-date carbon baseline for the region.
- An emissions reduction pathway for the region (out to 2050) that reflects the regional and local economic, social, and environmental context. To support monitoring and evaluation we will develop five-yearly carbon budgets.
- Sector-specific decarbonisation roadmaps (e.g. transport, domestic buildings, energy supply), providing high-level visual tools that deconstruct – the often distant – 2050 target into clear and tangible intermediate goals.
- Priority actions that will support the acceleration of carbon reductions in the short-, medium- and longer-term, thereby providing a shared vision for the region.
- The findings will be consolidated in a comprehensive final report.
