Join Our Webinar on the Feasibility of Large-Scale Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) Deployment in the UK

City Science is hosting a webinar to discuss the findings of our latest report, Assessing the Feasibility for Large-Scale DACCS Deployment in the UK. This report, commissioned by the Climate Change Committee (CCC) for the Seventh Carbon Budget (7CB), evaluates the potential for deploying large-scale Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) in the UK, identifying key feasibility factors, potential costs, and constraints.

Joe McQuillen CEng and Dr Heather Goodwin will be offering an objective and balanced perspective on this divisive technology, addressing the following topics and questions with a particular emphasis on feasibility in the UK:

  • The case for DAC
  • Fundamental realities and uncomfortable truths
  • UK drivers and needs
  • Expected constraints and inhibitors
  • The billion-dollar question – how much is it going to cost?
  • Should we even be deploying DAC in the UK? Or elsewhere?
  • The UK’s opportunities and advantages

The session will include time for audience Q&A.

Date: Wednesday 23rd April 2025

Time: 11am – 12pm

DACCS remains a controversial yet potentially essential technology for achieving net zero. With CO₂ concentrations in the atmosphere at just ~0.04%, extracting significant quantities is a challenge, but one that could be vital for meeting the UK’s climate goals.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear directly from our experts and contribute to the discussion on the future of DACCS in the UK.
