Overview
The Home Efficiency Hub – Heat Pumps for Cherwell Project, as part of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Heat Pump Ready programme, sought to accelerate the transition to low-carbon heating solutions through a hyper-local, place-based approach. Focussed on creating net-zero neighbourhoods, the project aimed to integrate renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency measures, and community engagement strategies.
This included:
- Implementing a tailored community engagement strategy emphasizing awareness, education, and trust-building activities such as workshops, demonstrations, and marketing campaigns.
- Establishing partnerships with local stakeholders to promote the adoption of sustainable practices and technologies within neighbourhoods.
- Facilitating development of hyper-local financing mechanisms to overcome financial barriers and incentivise participation in energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives.
- Leveraging data analysis to identify optimal locations for renewable energy deployment, considering grid capacity constraints and energy demand profiles.
- Collaborating with local authorities and utilities to streamline processes for grid connection applications, ensuring efficient integration of renewable energy systems into the local infrastructure.

We have now launched our Net Zero Partnerships offering (Net Zero Partnerships for Local Authorities – City Science). By leveraging the comprehensive support and tailored strategies offered through the Net Zero Partnerships, local authorities can effectively implement initiatives like the Home Efficiency Hub, accelerating the creation of net-zero neighbourhoods and fostering a sustainable future for their communities.
