Last week the consultation opened for Stage 1 of the Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy (OxIS) on future strategic infrastructure plans that will support and encourage sustainable, clean, and healthy growth across Oxfordshire to 2040.
Commissioned by the Oxfordshire Growth Board, City Science and its partners have successfully delivered Stage 1 of OxIS which provides a long-term framework for the county’s investment priorities for strategic infrastructure including energy, transport, education, green infrastructure, and healthcare to 2040. It also identifies delivery and funding opportunities to shape and influence future investment plans.
Led by a robust evidence-base, City Science developed both a needs-based and growth-based infrastructure appraisal and assessed strategic gaps in infrastructure schemes against Oxfordshire’s future needs across Environment, Health, Place-Shaping, Productivity and Connectivity.
City Science worked in close partnership with Oxfordshire County Council, Oxfordshire’s five District Councils and other key partners such as OxLEP and key infrastructure providers. The framework uses a place-based approach, reflective of the county’s diverse urban and rural communities, whilst drawing upon work across each District.
