City Science is delighted to announce that we have appointed by Herefordshire Council to produce a Transport Scoping Report to underpin the forthcoming Herefordshire Local Plan Update. Once complete, the Local Plan will set out where and how future development should be delivered across the county to 2041.
The initial stage of our commission will be focused on producing a scoping assessment of the likely transport scenarios from the recent Spatial Options Consultation, whilst the second stage will involve a more detailed transport assessment once the detailed site capacities are known following further consultation.
Our approach to assessing transport impacts will be underpinned by a ‘Vision and Validate’ approach, reflective of best practice in the industry including our own RTPI Net Zero Transport Research. This reflects Herefordshire Council’s realigned priorities, including the need for the county to decarbonise, reflecting their declaration of a climate emergency in 2019. We will also consider potential longer-term impacts of how travel behaviour could evolve, accounting for the impacts of COVID-19.
