We are excited to announce that City Science has been selected to develop the Hull & East Riding Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) in partnership with Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
This project will support Hull City Council’s commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2040, as well as East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s goal of reaching net zero by 2050.
Using a whole-system, evidence-based approach, we will deliver a strategic roadmap of key actions to guide the region’s transition to a net zero energy system. By collaborating closely with the councils and key stakeholders, and incorporating engagement at each stage of the project, we aim to ensure both stakeholder buy-in and an accurate understanding of the local area.
The LAEP development process will involve consolidating and analysing data to create a baseline representation of the region, developing and modelling future energy scenarios, producing carbon reduction pathways, and producing a prioritised action plan to support decarbonisation. This approach ensures a comprehensive view of the region’s energy system, meeting both local needs and broader sustainability goals.
We are excited to work closely with Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council on this important project, which will play a crucial role in shaping the region’s sustainable energy future. If you’re interested in a data-driven, expertly developed LAEP for your area, or would like more information, please contact us at info@cityscience.com
