City Science is excited to announce the development of the Investment Grade Proposals (IGP) Project. This initiative aims to provide investors, property owners, and tenants with a comprehensive understanding of retrofit options for their homes, while accurately quantifying the financial, environmental, and social returns on investment.
Working closely with Dale Hoyland, Retrofit Team Lead at Oxfordshire County Council, we were introduced to two schemes for this project; Clean Heat Streets and Cosy Homes Oxfordshire where we are now collaborating to move forward with the IGP project. This will build our understanding of the true impact of retrofitting through monitoring both pre-and-post installation across a number of different measures.
Through this collaboration, we will fund retrofit improvements for several properties under these schemes. Additionally, we will collect real-time sensor and smart meter data to accurately measure the impacts of pre-and-post retrofitting. These data will help quantify energy and fuel cost savings, providing confidence to all parties that property upgrades are achieving the desired outcomes, thus enabling informed investment decisions.
The success of the IGP project will pave the way for a scalable, commercial, software-based service. Developed through extensive user engagement, this service will analyse property information and offer retrofit and energy-saving suggestions. It will quantify the impact of these suggestions in terms of energy, carbon, fuel costs, capital expenditure, and EPC rating, with an option for ongoing monitoring.
