City Science is delighted to have been accepted to join “Lot 1” of the new NHS Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure Framework. This means that NHS Trusts can directly commission our services to support the NHS’s wider net zero and sustainability goals.
The NHS accounts for approximately 3% of all transport emissions in the UK and the NHS has committed to decarbonisation targets including:
- All trust and integrated care boards to have sustainable travel strategies by 2026
- 50% reduction in staff travel emissions by 2033
- Reach net zero across its operations by 2045
City Science has extensive track record combining geospatial insights with industry leading transport expertise to deliver decarbonisation for our clients. This has included:
- Working with Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Wonford Hospital to determine the potential for staff to shift to sustainable modes of transport.
- Formulating sustainable transport strategies and plans across parking strategies, walking and cycling plans, and electric vehicle charging studies to support clients’ decarbonisation goals.
- Delivering net-zero and decarbonisation strategies that can help organisations and places meet their targets and assess the right policies accounting for their locally specific conditions, such as for Cotswold District Council.
- Modelling and decarbonisation planning of freight and logistics: such as designing and delivering a National Freight Model for England’s Economic Heartland. Additional City Science also has experience of feasibility studies for innovative low-carbon alternative logistics solutions.
